Personal Training

Personal training at Upright Kinetics is more than just a workout for general fitness. It is a program built on the principles of Therapeutic Physical Care (TPC) developed by Dynamic Balance. TPC is the space between rehabilitation and fitness. TPC focuses beyond just minimal function. We seek to optimize your function. We place emphasis on form and technique more than building a certain aesthetic. We look at you as a whole and build workouts that are at first corrective and then expand to include your fitness goals. In working with us, you start your fitness journey the right way by ensuring you learn exercises with proper form and technique. 

Once you develop a basic competence and confidence in your foundation work, you can continue working with a trainer as often as you like or work solo with intermittent check-ins with your trainer to adjust goals as you face new challenges.

Bring us your personal challenges and work one-on-one with one of our experts to train against chronic degeneration while you train towards your personal goals.

Choosing to work one-on-one with a trainer enhances the rehabilitative journey and in some cases makes it possible to train at all. A relationship with one of our trainers ensures accountability, consistency, ongoing motivation, and continuous optimization of your program for ongoing progress.

Sessions can vary in length depending on your needs. You can choose to front-load sessions in order to have a rapid start in your journey or you can choose a more moderate pace with a steady rate of sessions.

We are a multimodular company, offering virtual, in-person, and hybrid relationships. So whether you would like to visit us in-person or fix your posture from the comfort of your own home, we will happily accommodate you. We are available wherever you need us!

Introductory Foundation Program

This introductory program was developed by Mark and Tiffany and is administered by Tiffany. The program is intended for those new to the concepts of TPC and for those just returning to the work. Its focus is to awaken and engrain the fundamental patterns for posture and movement so that they become one’s “base of operations”. In doing so, a client can expect to build greater rigor, prevent further injury, and move beyond partial solutions of other posture programs. This program will get you on the right track to addressing your postural concerns. 

It is a step-by-step guide, divided into 3 blocks that builds in volume and intensity. All workouts are clearly laid out and come with supporting material to help you learn the exercises correctly. Followed to completion this program will also tone your body and increase functional capacity.

The program is a 3-6 month commitment depending on the severity of your concerns.

With the purchase of this program, you will have access to 30 minutes with our Upright Kinetics team for any questions or concerns you might have.

Foundation Fitness for Surfers

This program was developed by Mark and  Brittany to help Brittany harden her foundation strength in order to achieve a new plateau in her surfing career. What this requires is a mix of traditional athletic training strategies with a focus on the overlaying discipline of maintaining foundation position throughout all compound movements. This program is based on her own advanced training experience at Upright Kinetics. 

Although developed for a pro surfer, the principles and movements will help any athlete improve because the focus is always on base function to achieve optimal output. Most all intermediate or advanced athlete will see a large performance improvement just as Brittany did. Specifically, Brittany has noticed a significant improvement in her proprioception, balance on the board, anticipation, and force modulation. She also saw great increases in explosive strength, flexibility, end range maneuverability, and control on the board.

The program may seem easy at first, as you work on body awareness and breath work, but rest assured the program will ramp up once you have the basics. Trust the process.

This program is divided into 3 blocks, each with increasing volume and intensity of the workload. All workouts are clearly laid out and come with accompanying photos and videos to help you learn the exercises correctly.

The program is a 3-6 month commitment depending on the goals you wish to achieve and further your progress. Once you have reached the end and mastered the program check in with us to see how to further your progress. You are welcome to continue adding reps, sets, and/or external resistance for progressive overload. Just remember your form.
